
Allison Brooks Janney, born on 19 November 1959, in America is an American actress. The actress is known for her performance across many types of screen and stage during her career of three decades. Janney has received many awards including the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. The actress also won seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney was also nominated to at least two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston, and raised in Dayton (Ohio). She was awarded a scholarship to study at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art when she completed her studies at Kenyon College. Following a string of minor and non-credited television and film appearances, Janney's breakthrough came with the character of C. J. Cregg in The West Wing, an NBC political drama The West Wing (1999-2006), for which she received four Primetime Emmy Awards. She was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for the Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series as Margaret Scully's character in Masters of Sex. She was best known for her role as Bonnie Plunkett.
